Beginner Level
The class will begin with an opening poll on what students know about AI. After that we will go over the following: * What AI is and is not * Different AI that can be used to assist with homework and assignments * The ways AI can support student learning and assignment completion * The appropriate use of AI * How not to use AI * How to use AI to support learning, project planning, writing improvement, brainstorming, etc * Prompt creation * How to spot bias and hallucinations while using AI * Digital safety when using AI * Critical thinking and the use of AI
Learning Goals
Students will create AI prompts designed to ethically support their learning and assignment completion.Students will identify the difference between using AI to support their learning and cheating.Other Details
Learning Needs
Students with learning needs related to ADHD, Dyslexia, ASD, EL, and Executive Function benefit greatly from using AI as an accessibility tool to complete projects and assignments.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I have taken several classes designed for teachers to teach students how to safely use AI. I have taught this class multiple times to 7th and 8th grade students this school year. I find that AI can be an exceptional support tool for students who are working to improve their executive function skills. AI is also a great accessibility tool for neurodiverse students who struggle with executive functioning and Multilingual students who are learning academic English.Reviews
