Class Experience
US Grade 6 - 9
I love helping homeschool students one on one in 6th, 7th, 8th grade math as well as Pre-Algebra and Algebra 1 if they get stuck on a math concept and need to drop in occasionally for help. During the school year, students and parents are welcomed and encouraged to send me pictures of the student’s current work or homework for us to go over during our tutoring time. If not, I will go over grade level concepts as well as address any area of student weaknesses. Concepts that may be covered include: order of operations, exponents, square roots, scientific notation, factoring, prime numbers, fractions, rational numbers, percents, measurements, geometry, probability and statistics, algebraic equations and inequalities, logic and set theory. During the summer, I will either review the previous year’s concepts or give the student a jump start on the next year’s math concepts so they will already be familiar with it when the teacher presents them in class. I like to play math games during the last 5-10 minutes of our tutoring time which reinforces math concepts, focuses on mental math and logic, reinforces multiplication “tricks” I teach and makes math and tutoring fun, AND enjoyment with math goes a long way in learning. A third-party app/website, Kahoot, may be used during game time.
