Students will improve their understanding of social skills, taking turns, asking questions, enjoy learning, learn numbers, learn letters, and build fine motor skills. Students will also be more inspired to engage with nature, more observant, and typically more focused.
I started a successful nature based microschool in 2016 that promoted wonder based learning, hands on play, and high interest activities. Our proven curriculum has influences from Montessori, Reggio, Waldorf and other self directed educational philosophies. It has been published and used with high reviews from parents, schools, and co-ops.
All students in this course will gain access to an online learning program - Mathseeds and Reading Eggs as well as optional learning activities to complete daily at home. Homework is optional, but it is suggested students complete an additional 20 minutes daily of out of class assignments.
Here are the supplies needed for this course. Clay or Playdough White Glue Glue sticks Markers Tempera Paint A tray Cardstock Paper Dry Erase Board Dry Erase Marker Crayons Craft Materials Nature treasures like rocks, sticks, leaves to be collected A printer is not necessary for this course and all materials can usually be supplemented so please do not worry if you don't have access to something on this list. Just let us know and we will be happy to suggest alternatives.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
2 hours 15 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Mathseeds is an online learning program that is optional for use for this course. Students get a free account with this course after a week of sign up. This is completely optional and up to the parent if they choose to use it at home.
Mathseeds and Reading eggs. www.mathseeds.com can be used for supplementary learning outside of class. This is completely optional.
