In this 8 lesson course we will build on our knowledge of the Elements and Principles of Art! I will be demonstrating the projects and techniques in a series of step-by-step videos & slideshows posted. Students will explore a variety of media. Lesson 1: Monoprint Fish Project- In this project students will create a fish drawing. Students will then layer color onto tinfoil to create a monoprinted background for their drawing. Lesson 2: Geometric Robot Drawing- We will review geometric shapes and use them to create fun robot drawings! In the background we will use out knowledge of color & pattern to add interest! Lesson 3: Van Gogh Sunflowers Oil Pastels- this lesson we will use of observation skills to draw like Vincent Van Gogh. Students will learn ways to measure proportions in drawing to make our pieces more realistic. In this project we will also look at creating a textured mark when drawing. Lesson 4: Value Ocean Painting- In this project we will create value in our ocean layers. Students will learn how to mix paint to create different values of a color. Students can add silhouettes of their favorite ocean creatures to their painting! Lesson 5 & 6: Clay Owls- Week 5 students will construct their owl in clay. The focus for this project is texture. Projects will dry until lesson 6 when students will paint or finish with markers. Lesson 7 & 8: Foil Relief- Week 7 students will create a yarn painting. This will dry until lesson 8 when students will add foil and permanent marker to their artwork.

I have taught high school art for 18 years! Last year I had the opportunity to teach middle school students remotely and loved it! I have taught a variety of courses over my career such as: Fine Arts 1 & 2, Introduction to Photography, Pottery 1 & 2, Introduction to Jewelry, Introduction to Crafts, Introduction to Sculpture, Design 1 & 2.
I believe creating art is a process. It takes making a mess, mistakes and trying again! Creating art is a method of communication with the world!
When I'm not creating art, I love cooking, reading, spending time with friends & family!
