In this 8 lesson course we will learn about the Elements of Art! I will be demonstrating the projects and techniques in a series of step-by-step videos & slideshows. Students will explore a variety of media. Lesson 1: Looking at Line! In this assignment we will create an artwork inspired by the artist Romero Britto focusing on lines & patterns Lesson 2: Color Fun! This lesson we will learn about the color wheel and create our own! Students will go on a color scavenger hunt to make their wheel. Lesson 3: Examining Shape! I will demonstrate a project where we will use warm and cool colors with geometric shapes! Lesson 4: Examining Value! This week we will use our knowledge of color mixing and create value. We will create an observational cactus painting using value! Lesson 5: This lesson we move onto Form! We will use model magic clay to create pinch pots. I will demonstrate how to create a marbled design and how create a small pot. Lesson 6 & 7: This lesson students focus on the Elements of Space & Texture! In week 6&7 we will create texture landscape. We will explore different textures we can make in watercolor! Lesson 8: Elements of Art Challenge! Create a piece of art work demonstrating at least 3 of the 7 Elements of Art we learned about in class!

I have taught high school art for 18 years! Last year I had the opportunity to teach middle school students remotely and loved it! I have taught a variety of courses over my career such as: Fine Arts 1 & 2, Introduction to Photography, Pottery 1 & 2, Introduction to Jewelry, Introduction to Crafts, Introduction to Sculpture, Design 1 & 2.
I believe creating art is a process. It takes making a mess, mistakes and trying again! Creating art is a method of communication with the world!
When I'm not creating art, I love cooking, reading, spending time with friends & family!
