Homeschool Beginning 2nd Grade Reading Practice With Sight Words, and Phonics
In this beginning second grade reading class, we will learn sight words, read with phonics/decoding, improve comprehension, play games and help each learner improve in reading.

Join us any week as we introduce new sight words and learn to read through decoding words. Every class will begin with a review of the sight words for the week usually in game format, followed by reading a short passage which focuses on phonics and decoding words using consonant blends. This class is for learners who are very confident in letter sounds and are able to read short vowel words (cvc words). If your child is still struggling with vowel sounds, please contact me prior to see if this class is a good fit. Following is our schedule for the year: Week one (Week of 1/9/23 & 6/19/23: review of short vowel words and stories using short vowel words Weeks two and three (Week of 1/16&23 and 6/26&7/3)): introduction/reviews of long vowel words and continued usage of short vowel words Week four (Week of 1/30 & 7/10): Introduction of two letter consonant blends and usage in the story The weeks following will continue to progress with blend introductions and usage in stories.
Learning Goals
Students will increase their ability to read simple stories as well as read more fluently. Learners will be introduced to sight words as well as decoding skills and how to use those in the stories we read.
