Fun ongoing art class for homeschool learners. It's perfect for families who can't seem to squeeze art into their days.

Class experience

This class is taught in English.
This class is for budding artists who aren't afraid of getting a little messy and know that art isn't about making a replica of the teacher's piece.

Learners who have taken this class have become more comfortable in expressing their creativity and trying different techniques.

Due to the variety of skill sets in the class, I try to pace the class to meet all students' needs, but this isn't always possible.
Homeschool Art was the first class I offered on Outschool. I have taught this class for over three years now on Outschool. I have several returning learners, which means I try to make sure our projects are fresh. This also keeps me from becoming too comfortable in my lessons.

My teaching career did not start online. I have taught art to children in every community I have lived in as an adult. I enjoy creating art independently, and I know that having an art teacher who encourages is an important factor when trying your hand at new techniques. I encourage my students to do their best AND to include their flair in their projects.
Students who are planning to take several classes should have the following supplies :

-Heavy Mixed Media Art Paper - a spiral pad works great for keeping all projects completed on paper together

-9 x 12 or 8 x 10 Canvas - each month, I encourage learners to use canvas for one of the acrylic projects

-Acrylic paints in primary, secondary, and favorite colors
-a paper plate or palette can be used to store the paint

-Watercolor paint, such as pans, liquids, and pencils. I demonstrate with liquids and pan paint.

-Colored pencils

-Markers

-Crayons

-Paintbrushes in various sizes, including round 6 and 8, a 3/4 inch flat, and a thin brush for fine details
We use a variety of paintbrushes, I recommend purchasing a set of flat and round brushes of various sizes like these: http://www.michaels.com/white-taklon-super-value-paintbrush-pack-by-craft-smart/10514935.html and http://www.michaels.com/brown-taklon-tempera-filbert-paintbrushes-by-craft-smart/10514943.html.

-Pencils for sketching

Feel free to use art supplies that you have on hand.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Young learners may need additional help. I try to move at a good pace, but the class can feel fast for some younger students.
Students can always speak up by unmuting or using chat if they need me to slow down or if they have questions.

Hi! I am a former teacher who decided to make her classroom at home. I have a heart for teaching because I have a heart for learning.

I am a firm believer that all children are capable of learning regardless of their background. I've taught...
