Phonics is an integral part of learning to be a good reader and speller. Join us any week for this ongoing phonics class for second graders (and remedial third graders). We will learn more difficult phonics sounds that your learner will encounter in reading. The first class of the week will be an introduction to the phonics sound of the week. We will learn the sound and then practice reading words with that sound. The second class will begin with a game of review of the sound, reading the words and sentences or story, and practicing some spelling with that sound. You may notice that some sounds are repeated for high frequency or difficult sounds. The class schedule is below. I try to keep students engaged through a mix of hands on teaching and great student interaction. I enjoy learning about each child and making a connection that makes them want to return to class!
PHILOSOPHY OF LEARNING:
Every child is capable of learning, although some may learn in different ways. Making learning fun and working hard to learn produces children who want to learn even more! And isn't that our life goal?! Let's make life-long lovers of learning together!
ABOUT ME:
When I'm not in the classroom, I love to spend time outside walking or working in my yard, reading, or spending time with friends. I also like to bake bread and make cookies.
Let me know if you have questions or need additional information! I hope to see your learner soon!
