Class Experience
This class is taught in English.
Students will improve their understanding of Language Arts, Math, Social Studies, and Science Skills Students will improve their social skills such as taking turns, asking questions, enjoying learning, and understanding themselves. Students will also be more inspired to engage with nature, more observant, and typically more focused after our courses.
I started a successful nature school in 2016 that promoted wonder based learning, hands on play, and high interest activities. Our proven curriculum has influences from Montessori, Reggio, Waldorf and other self directed educational philosophies. It has been published and used with high reviews from parents, schools, and co-ops.
All students in this course will gain access to an online learning program - Mathseeds and Reading Eggs or Exact Path Learning as well as optional learning activities to complete at home. Homework is optional, but it is suggested students complete an additional 20-30 minutes daily of out of class assignments.
Here are the supplies needed for this course. Clay or Playdough (wheat may be in playdough, please be aware and substitute if you child is allergic) White Glue Glue sticks Markers Tempera Paint A tray Cardstock Paper Dry Erase Board Dry Erase Marker Crayons Craft Materials Nature treasures like rocks, sticks, leaves to be collected Q-tips A printer is not necessary for this course and all materials can usually be supplemented so please do not worry if you don't have access to something on this list. Just let us know and we will be happy to suggest alternatives. Downloads will be sent on Fridays before the upcoming week of class. Upon enrolling, please be sure to check for handsouts and supplies needed that week.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
2 hours 15 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Mathseeds, exact path, and Reading Eggs will be an optional tool for learners to access by joining this class.
Mathseeds and Reading eggs. www.mathseeds.com will be used for supplementary learning outside of class
