This virtual homeroom class is designed to give students the opportunity to have a consistent opportunity for social interaction with children their age to connect with each other and get to know new friends. We will begin each class with a quick round table open discussion where I will introduce a topic to engage the students. Each student will have an opportunity to share. Together they will travel around the world and learn about Christmas traditions. food and fun things that happen in each country. Students will have a world map and a passport so they can track their travels. Each week we will learn about a country, sing a Christmas song, read a story, play a game, color a picture, or make a small craft. Week 1: Get your Passports out and let's fly to Mexico Week 2: Let's travel to the Philippines Week 3: Let's travel to China Week 4: Let's travel to Norway Week 5: Let's travel to Australia Week 6: Let's come home! Please share your favorite family traditions; This is a highly interactive and social class, so other students will be encouraged to comment and questions. If at all possible I will not ask students to mute the classroom.
Learning Goals
Students will learn a few facts about each country to increase their understanding of the diversity in the world. They will practice sharing and listening skills.

I believe that learning should be fueled by joy and creativity. I find that students learn best when they are engaged in creative activities, conversation, and problem-solving with a teacher that they trust. I am known for my fun. interactive teaching style, I love to interject smiles and laughter into the classroom. Building confidence is the key to creating a successful learning environment so my classes are filled with positive encouragement.
I have a degree in Business Administration and Education with certification in Applied Behavioral Analysis. This education combined with my classroom, online, and homeschool experience provides me with the skills and experience to guide children to be successful.
My passions include art, writing, animals, traveling, and child growth and development. You will see these themes in the classes I teach.
I have 4 adult children and 8 grandchildren, they bring me joy! My grandchildren and their passions have provided me with some of my most fun class ideas.
I have spent the past 10 years traveling the world. I have trekked through the rainforest, swam with turtles, and enjoyed several of the wonders of the world. I have based many of my classes around these first-hand experiences.
Some fun facts about me:
I have a Havanese pup named Lola. Did you know that the Havanese breed is from Cuba and they used to be circus clowns for kings and queens? She is a riot!
I have been to Italy 11 times and I'm not even Italian!
I used to be a dental assistant so I love to go to the dentist!
I hope to see you in my classroom very soon!
