Description
Class Experience
Week 1: 1/3 cup bees wax (pellets are preferred/easiest to work with) 1/3 cup shea butter 1/3 cup coconut oil Peppermint or Lavender essential oils Small containers, chapstick tubes (can be found on Amazon), or even small jars. Week 2: 4-4x4 inch tiles (white, plain, at Home Depot) 1-2 sheets scrapbook paper (or more, if you want each coaster to be a different look) Mod Podge Ruler Pencil 1 sheet of felt 1 can of clear coat spray paint Week 3: 3 packets unflavored gelatin (.75 oz total) 3/4 cup cold water 1/4 tsp salt 2 cups sugar 2/3 cup honey (or corn syrup) 1/4 cup powdered sugar 2 TBL corn starch Pot Stand Mixer 8x8 inch baking pan, or similar Clean scissors/kitchen scissors Spatula Week 4: 2 cups dark chocolate chips 2 cups white chocolate chips 1 bag (10 oz) candy cane hershey kisses 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk, divided Crushed candy canes (optional) 8x8 inch baking pan, or similar foil butter or cooking spray Week 5 (we're making three types of rubs): 5 TBS sea salt 5 TBS brown sugar 3 TBS paprika 2.5 TBS smoked paprika 2 TBS black pepper 2 TBS thyme 2 TBS oregano 2.5 TBS cayenne pepper 2 TBS garlic powder 1 TBS onion powder 1 tsp cinnamon 1 tsp ginger 3 small storage jars or containers Mixing bowl and spoon
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Students will be using the stove, a stand mixer, a blender, and a microwave throughout this course. Adequate parental supervision, especially with younger students is encouraged.
