Holiday Drawing Class: Merry Christmas Modern Calligraphy Wreath Drawing Class
In this holiday drawing class, we will create a vibrant winter wreath full of holly leaves and berries. We will use modern calligraphy to hand-letter our holiday greeting, "Merry Christmas."

In this holiday drawing class, we will create a beautiful Christmas wreath with a variety of leaves and red berries. We will learn about the popular hand-lettering style of modern calligraphy, and use this to draw "Merry Christmas" in the center of our wreath. Adding shadows and various shades of green and red will finish our piece off with vibrancy and color. Students can use this art piece to create holiday greeting cards, or hang it as a festive wall art piece. Students will be guided step-by-step and given creative liberty to change and adapt their compositions as we draw together. Card stock is preferred (but not required) for this class as we’re aiming to create a sturdy wall-art piece. Students can also choose color options they prefer most. ***Please note, some students may not have time to finish coloring their art piece in class depending on their optimal drawing speed. I will work at a steady pace and frequently gage where students are at during the lesson. It is my goal to help them finish their drawing, but sometimes this doesn’t allow for coloring completion before class is over. Thank you for understanding.***

Students will work on following creative direction, realistic and creative drawing, balance of composition, and some color theory.

Supply List
One piece of white printer paper or card stock, a good pencil with an eraser, a fine tip black marker for defining and outlining, coloring tools with various preferred colors (markers, crayons, colored pencils, pastels, etc.), and a positive attitude.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
