Together we'll make wonderful holiday cookies ready to be decorated, shared, and of course, eaten as we go. Day 1 we'll start with making our batter together- combining all the ingredients and mixing everything up to make the best darn holiday cookies! Day 2 we'll roll out our chilled dough and cut out all our holiday cookies into any shapes we want. From there, our parents will help us get these in and out of the oven. Day 3 we'll make our own icing and decorate our cookies! We'll go over...
This class is all about fun- students will learn how to make cookies and icing from scratch and hopefully find a love of baking!
This one is just fun- I grew up making holiday cookies with my mom and her mom. We've passed on tips and tricks over the year. Excited to share with you and your loved ones!
There will be no homework but learners will be expected to bring together all ingredients needed before class!
Parents will need to provide ingredients (an ingredient list will be provided including options for gluten-free, dairy-free, or vegan households). A stand or electric mixer is ideal and cookie sheets are needed (~2 cookie sheets will be fine if you are going to present in Class #2 and we can re-use the cookie sheets when they come out of the oven; ~4-5 cookie sheets will be needed if you are not able to join us for Class #2 and the cookies will need to be baked after!). Finally, students will need space! Making cookies can be messy so having a tablecloth or cleaning supplies nearby would be great. I encourage all my learners to clean as we go so cleaning up will be included as part of what we learn!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
2 hours 45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Parents may be required in Class 2 to help get cookies in and out of the oven. Supervision will not be required during the class (as the class will focus on rolling and cutting) but will be expected to ensure baking is done safely.
I will provide my family recipe for holiday cut-out cookies and icing!
