Even if you're not a fan of ballet, you've probably heard of The Nutcracker. In this one time class, we will examine the history of ballet, the origins of this ballet in Russia, and the German folklore surrounding nutcrackers. We will discuss the many different versions of this story, from the classical ballet performance to Barbie to the Nutcracker and The Four Realms. Students are encouraged to watch one version of the story before class so they are familiar with the plot and characters, but it is not required.
