Description

Class Experience

In this course, students will participate in different types of crafts, experiments, DIY's and story times. Each activity will be winter and or Holiday themed. Each class will be filled with Christmas spirit and hands on projects!

Week one: Polar bear experiment (gummy bears), story
Week two: Make your own snow, story
Week three: Make your own reindeer food, story
Week four: Homemade hot chocolate, story

In this course, students will learn to express themselves creatively through crafts, experiments and other holiday activities. Students will practice measuring and drawing conclusions after testing an idea.

There will be no homework for this course.

Week 1 : Polar Bear Experiment - gummy bears, 4 cups or small bowls, water, salt, vinegar, baking soda, spoon.
Week 2 : Make Your Own Snow - baking soda, shaving cream, bowl or container.
Week 3 : Make Your Own Reindeer Food - oats, raisins, chocolate chips, sprinkles, sandwich bags and a bowl.
Week 4 : Homemade Hot Chocolate - milk, cocoa powder, sugar, semi sweet chocolate, vanilla extract, bowl, saucepan, whisk, mug, marshmallows.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Learner progress will be assessed through informal assessments by monitoring participation.

1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.

Parents are expected to be present during this course as it involves the use of foods and heat.
