This class will cover the basics of money skills and financial goal setting in the context of the holidays in North America (November/December). What IS money? How do we earn it and save it? What is the difference between needs and wants? What does “future you” do with money? Mrs. Alyx is a CFP professional and financial planner/money coach who has taught money and finance classes from preschool to College level. Using interactive visuals and questions, learners will bring their own experiences to class. Kids love coming up with ideas on what their financial lives will look like in the future, and in this class, we’ll touch on building those skills of talking about money, visualizing, and making a plan!

over 3 WeeksLesson 1:
Session 1: All About Money!
We will review a bit of the history of money and complete a needs vs. wants exercise to help learners identify priorities. 45 mins online live lesson
Lesson 2:
Session 2: Spending Money!
Writing down our goals means that we are much more likely to reach them. Let's pick a financial goal that we can reach. Learners will work on drawing or describing what they want to buy or pay for and we will discuss saving and setting milestones. 45 mins online live lesson
Lesson 3:
Session 3: Planning Money!
How can we track our income (money we get or earn) and plan to spend it? We will look at a sample budget, specifically around gift giving and planning to make a purchase for ourselves. 45 mins online live lesson
