Using beloved magical characters from the Harry Potter series and their famous houses, we will discuss what character traits actually ARE, as well as how to identify them with evidence from a source.

Description
Class Experience
Students will learn a variety of character traits and how they are exemplified through characters from J.K. Rowling's magical world of Harry Potter. Analyzing and then comparing characters is a skill expected through various grade level expectations according to the Common Core State Standards. This class will lay a foundation for analyzing characters through their actions, motives, and dialogue.
As a one-time class, there will be no homework.
Students just need paper and something to write with for this class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
As a one-time class, there will be no formal assessment. However, participation in class will show student understanding and completion of the class objective.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
*SPOILER ALERT* If your student has not completed reading or watching the whole Harry Potter series, there may be spoilers of story plot and character development during this class. If your student is exploring this magical world for the first time, look for my HARRY POTTER BOOK CLUB courses coming soon!
