Students will study 1 of the main writing systems of Japanese - Kanji Students will be introduced to Japanese Kanji characters in various topics. Students will learn the vocabulary for various topics: nature, family, beauty, colors and more! Students will write the beautiful Japanese Kanji characters they learned. Students will start their journey of leaning Japanese in a fun and artistic way!
Teacher Lynn (リン 先生) completed her Master’s degree in Oita, Japan. She was a teaching assistant for Japanese middle school, high school, and university in-person classes in Japan. She has been living in Japan for 6 years (since 2017). Teacher Lynn not only intensely studied the Japanese language, but fell in love with Japanese culture and discovered the passion for sharing such a beautiful language with students. She has been a private Japanese online tutor for over 3 years. Teacher Lynn has also taught Chinese students for 4 years (since 2019).
Student may need extra time after the class videos to finish their artwork. Homework worksheets will be provided on the Outschool platform classroom forum for students to practice Kanji. ** Homework completion is not required, but recommended for the Japanese learning experience.
** Please bring art supplies each week. Students will be asked to show their Japanese Kanji characters writings. Students will answer questions weekly on the Outschool platform classroom forum to assess their understanding. Self-assessment activities will also be provided.
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Please keep in mind that some art supplies are messy. ++ All content provided by Teacher Lynn is appropriate for all students of every background. Parental guidance is recommended, but not required for the 3rd party websites: Youtube, Memrise, Kahoot, and Lexilogos. Login may be required for the websites. No additional costs to use the websites.
Teacher Lynn will provide links of the private videos and learning sources. Homework worksheets will also be provided on the Outschool platform classroom forum.
