Class Experience

‘Japanese Kanji Writing Painting and Drawing’ course with Teacher Lynn (リン 先生).
** This course is for Ages 7 - 12. Please see our other similar Japanese classes offered for older students.

The Japanese language has become extremely popular due to anime, J-pop and J-dramas! Japanese art is also stunning!
This multi-day 1-time a week 30-minute easy-going course is aimed at students who are interested in starting their Japanese language journey and love Asian inspired art. Discover Japan through its language and art!

~ This a multi-day course; 1 time a week. 
Each day has different Japanese Kanji characters taught. 
There are over 200 traditional radical (root) Kanjis and over 2,000 associated Kanji vocabulary words. 
Students will learn at least 20 traditional radical (root) Kanjis and over 100 associated Kanji vocabulary words in this course. 

Every week, students will be introduced to the meaning and pronunciation of the Japanese Kanji radical (root) characters of the day and associated Kanji vocabulary words. 
Students will be shown the correct stoke order for the characters so that they can proceed to draw or paint the Japanese Kanji characters correctly. History and cultural references will also be discussed if time allows.

This Multi-day course ends at Week 20.

Students are expected to verbally participate in the class activities. Cameras and Microphones are requested to be ON. (*Repeat students may turn their cameras OFF, but may be asked to show their artwork.)

In this course, all Japanese is accompanied with Rōmaji (Roman alphabet) for easy reading and following along. No prior Japanese language learning is required. Easy and fun!

Please bring art supplies (of your choosing) to every class. Only Zoom on the Outschool platform is used for this course.

** Class of 2 or more students is essential for the class group activities and discussion. Please ask siblings or friends to join - teacher provides coupon discount for groups. Thank you.

Teacher Lynn (リン 先生) completed her Master’s degree in Oita, Japan. She was a teaching assistant for Japanese middle school, high school, and university in-person classes in Japan. She has been living in Japan for 6 years (since 2017). Teacher Lynn not only intensely studied the Japanese language, but fell in love with Japanese culture and discovered the passion for sharing such a beautiful language with students. She has been a private Japanese online tutor for over 3 years. Teacher Lynn has also taught Chinese students for 4 years.
