If you love reading, adventure, and solving mysteries, then come and join us as we walk through history with Jack and Annie. Each week, I will post a recording onto the classroom page a recorded lecture where we will explore the setting (ancient Japan, the Amazon Rainforest, the Ice Age, and the moon), the differences and similarities between what the characters experience and what really happened, discuss the plot, create a story map, and complete a craft. Learners will be responsible for reading the book on their own. Week 1 Night of The Ninjas - Explore Japan and learn it's history; Learn who were Ninja's and what did they do; Create Ninja Origami throwing stars or Nunchucks; Story map, coloring pages, discussion questions, worksheets Week 2 Afternoon on the Amazon - Explore the Amazon Rainforest and the different plant and animal species that live there; Create a Flipbook about the different Rainforest's of the world; Story map, coloring pages, discussion questions, worksheets Week 3 Sunset of The Sabertooth - Explore the Ice Age ; Create a cardboard Mammoth or an iceberg; Story map, coloring pages, discussion questions, worksheets Week 4 Midnight on The Moon - Explore the Moon and learn about the history of space exploration; Create a timeline of the phases of the moon or moon phase cookies; Story map, coloring pages, discussion questions, worksheets Each week, by Wednesday evening (9pm PST) - -I will email each student a link that weeks lecture and assignments. This will be on YouTube and is in a private account that is embedded into the Outschool classroom page. - Assignments will consist of discussion and essay questions, short research topics, Youtube videos, and worksheets. These will be posted on the classroom page. - In my flex classes, each family can determine the level of participation in the course. - Communication will be done through the Outschool classroom. -I will check in with each student several times during the week to check on progress of the homework, address any questions, or to engage in a discussion about the topic covered. Each student is encouraged to message (through the Outschool classroom) me anytime they have any questions or thoughts about the class. - Each week, there may be additional articles, videos, or pictures that will be posted to the classroom page to engage students in open conversations about that weeks topic. -Please message me before the start of class if you have any questions. This class will utilize Youtube videos for sharing of lecture videos, as well as supplemental lessons. All Youtube videos are embedded into the Outschool platform.

I have been an educator on Outschool since February of 2018. I have my MBA and MHA, both of which have taught me the value of conducting research and asking questions. I have a passion for history, organization, reading, and learning. You can usually find me in the middle of 2-3 books or watching a documentary.
I am also an Outschool ACE Educator, which means that I continually seek out ways to improve my teaching skills and knowledge, as well as the learner experience. Some of the seminars/courses that I have attended in the past are: Foundations for Teaching and Learning About Native Americans; The Presence and Absence of Asian America: What Truths Lie Beyond the Headlines; Using the “Diary of Anne Frank” to Amplify Students’ Voices; Painting a Just Picture – Art and Activism.
