I was a middle school history teacher for 14 years. The Civil War was one of my favorite units. This movie is one of my favorite, very accurate, historical dramatizations.
In between the first and second class you will have to actually watch the movie. It is a 4 hour movie, you might want to watch it over two days. You will also have a study guide to fill out as you watch the movie to help with the second class's discussion.
1 file available upon enrollmentThere is a handout that will need to be printed out and brought to the first class
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Participation during discussions
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
There is violence in the movie, people and horses are shot and killed in the battle scenes.
