In this 55 minute class, we will learn about Benjamin Franklin's life and his contributions to the U.S. We will use the book "Who Was Ben Franklin" in class. This book was written for students at U.S. grade levels 2 to 5 and students with an interest level for early American history at U.S. grade level 4 to 8. The class will learn the following points about Benjamin Franklin: (1) a printer and businessman who created the Poor Richard's Almanac; (2) a creator and inventor of the lightning...
Students will gain a general knowledge of Benjamin Franklin as a printer, publisher, inventor, scientist, and statesman who played a pivotal role in the founding of the U.S.
I have tutored early American history to elementary and history leaners for about 4 years. I have undergraduate courses in American History and politics in college. History is a hobby for me.
I request that students read "Who Was Ben Franklin" before the class. There are 104 pages. But the book is about 50 percent illustrated with text. The reading is probably around 50 pages of text.
The textbook for this class is "Who Was Ben Franklin", ISBN-10: 9780448424958. You can find this book on Amazon for $4.99. The book is also available as an ebook for kindle for $5.99. I will also include a 2-page handout to help with the reading.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
