Ahoy me hearties! Hoist the Jolly Roger, batten down the hatches and join us each week of this flex class for a new pirate adventure. We will be discussing the real pirates of the Caribbean such as their background, legends, history, and customs surrounding each person. Students will explore the history of five historical pirates of the Caribbean and compare their real lives to their legends.
I majored in secondary history education and am a certified history teacher. I have been teaching world history in public school for 16 years.
We will be discussing the life and times of the real pirates of the Caribbean which can be violent. We will be discussing sea battles, mentioning how they were caught and punished with hanging, and how Mary Reed and Anne Bonny dressed and acted like men originally since women weren't allowed to be pirates.
Various historical websites such as https://www.nps.gov, history.com, britannica.com, New England Historical Society, etc. Several books on Pirates that were written for student aged kids. Drawings and Paintings from primary sources. Video clips of songs or history video clips
