In this class, learners will learn about trailblazing women in rock music, from Emma Nobbe, electric guitarist, professional musician, and songwriter. Class starts in 1938 with Sister Rosetta Tharpe (the Godmother of Rock'n'roll) and highlights women artists up into the present. Learners will be learn about the contributions of women musicians to rock music, sample their music in class, and grow their appreciation for the incredibly talented women who have shaped rock music. Students will receive a Youtube playlist so they can continue explore each artist's music after class.

Identify women artists who have shaped rock music throughout history
Be able to name songs by each of the women artists

Neurodivergent learners are always welcome in my class! Feel free to bring your fidget toys and whatever you need to focus and learn. Feel free to message me before class if your learner has a specific need.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Emma Nobbe is an electric guitarist, professional musician, and songwriter. She holds a Bachelor of Science in a music degree, has performed with 20+ different bands, performs locally as a solo artist with her band, recorded and produced her debut EP, and has had her work featured in Guitar Girl Magazine. Emma has been a guitar instructor for 5 years and is passionate about empowering young girls, women, and queer people to become capable musicians and find their creative voice.
