In this class, students will learn about how Walt Disney conceived of Walt Disney World and how its construction is different from that of Disneyland in California. Further, we will explore how Disney World expanded with later parks, including EPCOT, through which we will discuss Walt's desire for a "land of tomorrow," Hollywood Studios, and how Disney started animating films at this park, and Animal Kingdom, and the struggles of keeping live animals in the park. I have my MA in Art History from the University of Colorado at Boulder where I focused on animation and its interactions with art history for my master's thesis. I have taught a version of this course twice at the collegiate level for undergraduate students and lecture regularly on Disney history! I also spent a year working at Walt Disney World!
