Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 8
Have you ever wondered about the people who are assigned to guard the President? Did you know that we didn't always think this was an important role? (Quick fact - During the Civil War, President Lincoln did not have body guards but the Union Generals did. Ulysses S. Grant was invited to go to Ford's theater that night but declined. He said that he always felt guilty because if he had accepted and gone to the theater, his body guards would have been there to protect the president.)

In this one time class, we will learn about why the agency was originally created in 1865, what happened after the civil war, how 2 more presidents were assassinated before their roles changed, and what the qualifications are to become one.
