Description
Class Experience
Students will leave with a greater understanding of forged weapons.
My Name is Mrs. Bannert. I am a certified teacher. I have a Masters in Education. For the past five years I have taught in a public school setting and for the past three years I have taught English in an online format. I am certified to teach History, Science, Math and English. My family is a collector of all things some of which being forge weapons. Over the years I have studied in depth the different types of forge weapons' and why they were created. My goal of this class is to share the knowledge I have learned with those who also love to learn the history behind forge weapons.
Playdoh/ Clay Pencil and paper if students wishes to draw. Please note: I understand that with COVID and lockdown restrictions in many areas obtaining playdoh/ clay may be impossible for some. If this is the case for your learner and they would still like to take the class please note they are more than welcome to recreate the weapons by drawing them. If they have another method they would like to use please let me know.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
4 hours 35 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
This class does discuss hand held forge weapons (knives, swords, etc) and how they were used. Topics may be sensitive for some learners but all will be age appropriate. After class students will have access to videos that show the weapons' they learned about in class being made and tested. These weapons will be tested on bamboo, rope, sandbags, gel torsos, and one sword will slash a pig carcass. Each video will properly be labeled and it will be the parents discretion if they allow their learners to watch them. Please note these videos will be introduced in class but will not be watched in class.
