50 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
In this one time class, students will learn about how Walt Disney came up with the idea of Disneyland in the early 1950s! After a quick background of Walt and his idea, we will learn about the construction process of the park and the ideas and concepts behind each land--including Fantasyland, Adventureland, Frontierland, New Orleans Square, Mickey's Toontown, Tomorrowland, and Main Street USA--leading up to a brief discussion of Disney World and the addition of Star Wars Land in 2019. Students will look at original concept art for the park and each land and learn how Imagineers chose how to theme each land and the rides that are within them! Students will come away knowing some of the artistic and engineering techniques used by Disney Imagineers, the history behind the development of the park, and the cultural implications of Disneyland!
