Class Experience
In this one time class, students will learn about how Walt Disney came up with the idea of Disneyland in the early 1950s! After a quick background of Walt and his idea, we will learn about the construction process of the park and the ideas and concepts behind each land--including Fantasyland, Adventureland, Frontierland, New Orleans Square, Mickey's Toontown, Tomorrowland, and Main Street USA--leading up to a brief discussion of Disney World and the addition of Star Wars Land in 2019....
I have my MA in Art History from the University of Colorado at Boulder where I focused on animation and its interactions with art history for my master's thesis. I have taught a version of this course twice at the collegiate level for undergraduate students and lecture regularly on Disney history!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
