For the past 1500 years something has been spotted in the Loche. The first historical mention was of a sea monster that had devoured a local and then came back when offered live human bait. Since then thousands have claimed to see the monster that explores this large lake in Scotland. Travel with me to Loch Ness lake, visit the locations of sightings using Google Earth, and dive deep under the water to discover why figuring out what exactly lurks in the depths is so difficult. Students will have their logical thinking put to the test as multiple theories are presented with supporting information and dissenting information. Students will be asked what their conclusion is. Students will gain an appreciation of Scotland's beautiful lakes, mountains, and a piece of their heritage.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
There are 3 deaths in this lesson. One is the original person killed by the "monster." The next is a man who dies of a heart attack. The 3rd is a man who's boat hit an unexpected wake in the lake and flipped.
