History Herald: Weird and Deadly Fashion- Looks & Garments of Killer Style In this short 3 day course, students will learn about some of the weirdest fashion that injured, maimed, murdered, and occasionally saved people throughout history! Come join us for a look at fashion throughout history- but not just any fashion - the clothing that left its mark, literally, on the people who wore them. These fashion victims sacrificed health and limb to wear the trends of the time! Week One- Losing Your Head - Fashion and Trends for the Ol' Noggin Week Two- Miserable Middles - The Corsets, Poisons, and Radioactive Underwear Week Three- Legs for Days- Skirts, Pants, and Shoes to Kill No prior knowledge is needed as this is a beginner course. Each day will be a fun-filled history lesson with interactive presentation and discussion through group collaboration. Students are encouraged to consider why these items were created and what were the effects of these dangerous items on the people that wore them. Hello!
I am so excited to join you on this education adventure! I absolutely love teaching and learning and believe it can be exciting for every student! I am a certified classroom educator with a master's degree in education and a second master's degree in history. With over 15 years of experience working with learners of all levels, I am confident that even the most hesitant learner can be excited and engaged in every lesson!
I love exploring all things history! From the Highlands of Scotland to the Plains of America, from the Amphitheater in Greece to the Great Wall in China, history is the story of who we are. And, English is the tool to uncover, decode, analyze, and communicate the past. Paired together, these subjects are a dynamic duo.
I am the wife of a fellow educator and mama to two spunky little ones (ages 9 and 8). We love going outdoors and exploring nature, reading together on rainy days, and watching Marvel superhero movies!
