In this class, each week learners will compete against each other answering questions about the World War 2 in the Pacific theater , and whoever answers the most questions correctly wins! Each week will cover a different period of the war and will go in semi chronological order. No prior knowledge of World War 2 is required. I'm a huge history buff. I love learning about history and doing research about different time periods. World War 2 is an important part of my family history. Several of my Great Uncles served in the US Army, (one fought with Patton) my Grandfather served as a Merchant Marine, and both of my Grandparents on the other side lived in the Netherlands during the war and my Grandfather was part of the Dutch Underground. Growing up I heard them tell stories about the war and I always wanted to hear more. They all had fascinating stories to tell. (Ask me in class to tell you some!)
Homework Offered
Before each class learners will receive a document containing all the information covered in class. They are strongly encouraged to read over it before coming to class.1 - 2 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
This class will be presented in a game show format with learners answering questions presented.Grades Offered
A three page document will be provided before each class from which all questions will be taken. Learners should review this document before coming to class, but are asked to leave it alone during class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
This class covers World War 2, the bloodiest war in History. While most of the gory parts will be toned done, this is still war.
Books used as sources for the study sheet: "Reader's Digest Illustrated Story of World War 2", with articles written by Winston Churchill, Edward R. Murrow, Bernard Montgomery, General Marshall and many others who lived through the events. "American History Review Text" by Irving L. Gordon
