Class Experience
In this one time course, students will learn about the generation of the Flapper. The Flapper describes a group of young women who behaved more independently from their Victorian era parents and dressed in a particular way which featured drop waisted dress with a slim and straight lined, bobbed short hair and freedom to socialize as they pleased. I have a bachelors degree in history and English having written and studied the works F. Scott Fitzgerald, Zelda Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway in my course work. The discussion of the topics in this course will be age appropriate.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
In this class, we will also discuss Prohibition in a historical context. We will also discuss behaviors such as smoking, dancing and drinking that were not considered proper behavior. These will be discussed in a factual way, not promotional. Flapper girls were considered rebellious and did not follow the strict social norms that their mothers would have.
