Artists will learn how to draw a "hipster" bear in detail through directed drawing and mark making techniques. On day one of this two day class, artists will follow along with a directed drawing of a bear. Artists will then begin adding fun and personal details such as glasses, hats, sweaters and other unexpected items to their animals as well as patterns on the different accessories. Day one will end with a show and tell of our drawings in progress. Artists will have the opportunity to share what they are loving about their work and the reasons they chose their special details for their drawing. On day two, we will begin to create a fur like texture on our bear through the use of mark making with pen and ink. This process takes some time and practice so most of day two will be spent on this technique. After completing the fur like texture with our marks, artists will add color to various parts of their drawing using whatever coloring materials they have on hand. During the last few minutes of class artists will be encouraged to share their creations with the group. We will discuss what we love about our creations and if there is anything we would want to change. This is sure to be a fun class full of thoughtful discussion and new techniques.
