Beginner Level
Class Overview: My beginner Hindi class is designed to introduce students to the fundamental aspects of the Hindi language and culture. Through engaging and interactive lessons, students will develop basic speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. **Topics Covered:** 1. Alphabet and Pronunciation: Learning the Hindi script, and pronunciation of vowels and consonants. 2. Basic Vocabulary: Common words and phrases used in everyday conversations, including greetings, numbers, colours, and family members. 3. Simple Sentences: Construct simple sentences and questions, introduction to grammar basics like verbs, nouns, case, pronouns adjectives, and sentence structure. 4. Conversational Skills: Practicing conversational phrases and dialogues to enhance speaking and listening abilities. 5. Comprehension skills: During the class, we will work on short passages where learners will be taught comprehension strategies. **Class Structure:** - Weekly Lessons: Classes are held twice a week for 45 minutes. - Interactive Activities: Each class includes interactive activities such as story-telling and role-playing exercises to make learning fun and engaging. - Homework and Practice: Weekly assignments and practice exercises to reinforce learning and track progress. - Assessments: Periodic assessments to evaluate student understanding and provide feedback for improvement. **Teaching Approach:** - Student-Centered: My teaching approach is student-centred, focusing on individual learning styles and encouraging active participation. - Supportive Environment: I create a supportive and inclusive environment where students feel comfortable practising and making mistakes. - Progressive Learning: Lessons are structured to build on each topic gradually, ensuring a clear understanding and steady progression.
Learning Goals
1. **Mastering the Hindi Alphabet**:
Students will learn to read and write the Devanagari script, which includes understanding the pronunciation of each vowel and consonant.
2. **Building Basic Vocabulary**:
Students will acquire a foundational vocabulary of everyday words and phrases, covering topics like greetings, numbers, colours, and family members.

Teacher expertise and credentials
With experience as the primary teacher for grades 2 to 5, teaching Hindi, English and Math at a Cambridge-affiliated private school in India for 2 years, I have significantly enhanced my expertise in teaching. During the pandemic, I have also taken up online classes both 1:1 and group classes ensuring all the learners are engaged throughout the session. Currently, I am working at Huntington Learning Center, USA, as an English tutor for grades 1 to 6. Here, I undertake both in-person and online sessions( 1:1 and 1:4 sessions).
