In this 8-week course, students will be introduced to basic techniques in effects, audio, and video editing. Basic theory will be taught through demonstration, hands-on learning, and class discussion. Students will cover the following topics: Week 1: Editing Software Week 2: Editing Software Week 3: Video/Audio and Affect Techniques Week 4: Video/Audio and Affect Techniques Week 5: Video/Audio Theory Week 6: Video/Audio Theory Week 7: Digital Content and Production-Begin Final Project Week 8: Complete and Present Final Project Students will meet once a week and access the editing tools on their own devices with the instructor's guidance. Ms. Nicole Collins has her Bachelor's degree in K-12 Music Education and a Master's Degree in Music Technology. This is a project-based learning course. Therefore, students are taught through guided, conversational, and hands-on instruction to allow for creativity and student-centered learning. When you sign up for this course, you will find instructions on what websites you will use during that week. We recommend reviewing these sites before class so that students are familiar with them. Learners will interact with the instructor and other classmates often throughout the class. Projects will be interactive and include collaboration and verbal discussion to allow for a natural flow of synergy for student-led projects.
