When you get to high school, you need to be on top of your academic game. High school teachers are less likely to hold your hand while you learn new skills. They are more likely to assign a reading and ask you to review information outside of the classroom. They are less likely to design hands on projects, and more likely to lecture for long periods of time and expect you to take notes. Learning how to learn is key during this time. Your ability to take notes, review material, and read for understanding become essential in high school. And many students get to high school without ever being given the skills to to any of this! Luckily, this course can help. During the 4 sessions, we will review the neuroscience of learning, explore different strategies for note taking, discuss ways to review material, and talk about how we can read closely to learn as much as possible from reading homework. We'll talk about balancing your schedule, so you can do more with your time - AND ensure you're making moves to meet your future goals. This course is for anyone who needs support with executive function, anyone who wants to learn how to learn, or anyone who finds themselves struggling with the higher expectations that high school brings.
