This 8-week course will immerse your high school student into the Spanish language! Taught by a certified Dual-Language teacher and Spanish speaker, students will learn to express themselves on basic topics using greetings, goodbyes, and introductions in Spanish. This class will be discussion based to allow for real-life immersion and application into the Spanish language. The weekly schedule will include: Week 1: Greetings and Introductions/Grammar-Tener Week 2: The Spanish Culture/Grammar-Ser Week 3: The Spanish Alphabet and Colors/Grammar-Estar Week 4: Numbers and Time/Grammar-Querer Week 5: Weather and Seasons/Grammar-Gustar Week 6: Classroom Items/Grammar-Necesitar Week 7: Asking for Help/Grammar-Poder Week 8: Part 1 Review/Final Project Students will meet once per week. Students will be given optional homework to practice the weekly skill. This will include vocabulary, writing, and speaking practice, focusing on the weekly vocabulary words and concepts. Students will be able to turn in their homework to be graded by their instructor. This is a beginner Spanish course. Little to no prior knowledge or experience speaking Spanish will be needed.
