Homework
1-2 hours per week. Practice is essential for everything we learn. We can use our tutoring time for practice, but I encourage you to include a little math practice at least two times per week. This helps sharpen skills and deepen knowledge. I can provide practice assignments in Khan Academy to do outside of our time to reinforce what we cover.

Class Experience

US Grade 7 - 12
My tutoring sessions can happen as many times a week as needed and schedule allows. They can include any or all of the following:
- Help with homework
- Review of topics covered in class
- Enrichment or extra practice

Algebra topics covered can include:
- Combining Like Terms
- Factoring and Distribution
- Graphing
- Systems of Equations
- Inequalities
- Linear, Non-Linear, and Exponential Functions
- Quadratics
- Irrational Numbers
- Word Problems covering any or all of these topics

I can also provide enrichment for those wanting a more in-depth math experience with:
- Math Practice
- Math Projects!

When you need help with Algebra homework, simply bring your homework to our session. We will work the problems out together on the whiteboard. FYI - It is easier to have a touch screen when working out problems, but it is not impossible. I encourage all my students to have a notebook and pencil beside them during tutoring. Writing things down helps us remember concepts we learn!

If you do not understand what the teacher taught in class, bring it to tutoring and we will break it down together. I have helped auditory, verbal, visual, logical, and kinesthetic learners better understand concepts using vivid descriptions, keywords, illustrations, icons, patterns, and pointer movements.

If you want a more challenging math experience than your teacher can provide, you've got it! I can guide you through practice problems, and assign extra practice through Khan Academy, or we could do math projects together! Math projects take on real-world problems and solve them using algebraic concepts. Math projects are designed to relate to student interests and can include working with data sets, calculating raw material costs for manufacturing, analyzing angles, and calculating areas for topics of any interest! I am willing to dive into your favorites and pull out math concepts about the topics you love. :)

Some super sweet things my students and their parents have said about me...

"She made it easy to understand."

"Christine is the best! She seems to really enjoy tutoring. I can't even begin to tell you how thankful I am for her."

"My daughter and I would be lost without Christine."

Learning Needs
My style is learner driven. Those students with special needs, learning differences, and attention issues are wholeheartedly welcome. You will find my classroom an understanding, encouraging environment.
Parental Guidance
Math anxiety is real. The cure to math anxiety is building confidence. To that end, I try and start very slowly and simply, and praise effort as well as accomplishment, to encourage that confidence.

Teacher expertise and credentials
As a civil engineering designer, I use trigonometry and algebra every day. I saw how math was applied in real life, and I am super excited to show students how these math concepts can apply to their lives as well. For the last 15 years, I have taught kids from Kindergarten to 12th grade in homeschool groups, on Outschool, Varsity Tutors, and Tutor Me Education. I like engineering, and I love teaching. I bring a passion for both into the classroom, and I am so thankful you've decided to go on this learning journey with me.
