2-4 hours per week. 2 to 3 hours to watch the videos and to complete the practice problems. If the student wants to complete the quizzes and labs, then a further 2 to 3 hours each week.Assessment
Optional quizzes and lab reports may be completed. Those students who submit this work will be given a grade report at the end of the class.Grading

US Grade 9 - 12
This class is designed as an introduction to core concepts in physics. In order to understand the material, the student needs to have completed Algebra I and should have access to a scientific calculator. Students who take and understand this course will be very well prepared for further, more in-depth physics courses. Hopefully, they will also gain an appreciation for physics around them in their everyday lives. Beyond the videos mentioned, students will also receive copies of all the slides covered as well as practice problems and answer keys. Videos and other material will be posted each Monday by 6:00 AM Chicago time. Course syllabus: --Week 1-- * Video 1: Dimensional Analysis, Metric Units, Scientific notation, Sig Figs * Video 2: Kinematics --Week 2-- * Video 1: Two-Dimensional Kinematics * Video 2: Dynamics (Newton’s Laws of Motion) --Week 3-- * Video 1: Work and Energy * Video 2: Power, Linear Momentum, Impulse, and Torque --Week 4-- * Video 1: Electromagnetism Part 1 * Video 2: Electromagnetism Part 2 Course expectations: This is a flexible schedule course, which means that there are no live meetings. Each week, you will watch the videos (via an unlisted YouTube link which will be posted in the classroom) and work through the practice problems. You can always post videos or photos or messages asking for help on the practice problems on the class message board. Students are encouraged to help each other, and the instructor will check in regularly to answer questions as well. This is not the kind of course where you can sit and watch the videos and learn. You should be working through the practice problems each week in order to get the most benefit out of the course. The instructor will always be available via message and will typically reply within 12 to 24 hours. I am also willing to set up office hours via Zoom video chat if they are requested by a section of the class.
