Welcome to High School Health! This class is all about real talk on topics that matter – from understanding your body and mind to making smart choices about health. We'll cut through the fluff and dive into discussions on nutrition, mental health, and dealing with the stuff life throws at us. Get ready for some straight-up, no-nonsense conversations, because we're here to equip you with practical knowledge that'll stick with you long after the semester ends. Let's keep it real and make this health class about you, your well-being, and the facts you need.

Week 5: Chapter 8:  Food and Nutrition
Week 6: Chapter 9:  Making Healthy Food Choices
Week 7: Chapter 14:  Personal Care
Week 8: Chapter 15:  Alcohol
Week 9: Chapter 16:  Tobacco
Week 10:  Preventing Drug Abuse
Week 11:  Reproduction and Heredity
Week 12:  Pregnancy, Birth and Childhood
Week 13: Chronic Diseases and Disabilities
Week 14: Aging and final reflection essay

The topics will cycle back to the beginning or if new topics will be introduced in upcoming weeks. The students can join the class at any time they wish.

This course does not involve first aid, CPR, therapy, counseling, psychiatric evaluations, or evaluations for special education services.

Learning Goals

By the end of this course, students will understand the principles of maintaining personal health and wellness, including strategies for physical and mental well-being.
They will analyze the impact of nutrition on overall health and learn how to make informed dietary choices.
