Homework
1-2 hours per week. Students will be provided with engaging assignments after every lesson to apply the lesson to a real-world situation.

Class Experience

*All instructors are certified financial educators by the national financial educators' council*

This Flex course will provide students with engaging lessons and presentations to inspire them to make positive financial decisions. Students will be provided with access to engaging lessons and assignments to participate in interactive simulations and assessments.

Videos will be uploaded weekly along with practice assignments, homework, and additional resources. Students will use the Outschool classroom to access all materials and homework.

The weekly schedule will include the following:
Monday: Pre-Recorded video lesson with exposure and instruction of the concept. Students will be given homework to choose from to complete by Thursday.
Tuesday & Wednesday: Students will work on their assignments on their own. They can message me for additional assistance during this time.
Thursday: Review activity will be posted.

These financial literacy lessons will integrate real-world and engaging topics. Students will be provided with several different options for homework every week which include visual, real-world, and concrete assignments. 

Students will have the opportunity to engage with one another through platforms such as Flipgrid and discussions in the Outschool classroom. Students will participate in engaging and interactive platforms such as Kahoot, EdPuzzle, and Quizziz in order for me to accurately assess. 

The following topics will be covered throughout the course. 

Week 1: Financial Decisions 
-What is the relationship between my values, emotions, and personal finances?  

Week 2: Financial Goals
-How can I construct a plan to modify my habits and behaviors to align with my financial goals? 
-How can I create a clear and long-term financial plan? 

Week 3: Budgets
-What are the steps to creating a detailed budget and savings plan?

Week 4: Financial Decisions
-What are the factors to consider when selecting various financial service providers, including banking institutions, financial advisors, 
tax professionals, bookkeepers, accountants, brokerage firms, and personal trading accounts.
-What is the relationship between benefits and costs when making various spending decisions?

Week 5: Income and Careers
-How do career choices, educational choices, skills, and economic conditions affect income?
-What are the different steps and protocols for applying for employment? 

Week 6: Entrepreneurship
-What are the risks and benefits of starting a business? 

Week 7: Credit
-How can my credit history affect my finances? 
-What are the factors that affect a positive credit rating? 

Week 8: Debt and Loans
-What are the personal risks and responsibilities related to borrowing money?
