Description

Class Experience

This class is taught in English.
Students will learn how to read unfamiliar words, decipher dialectical variances, make inferences, and decode figurative language.
Your student may need to finish a chapter outside of class from time to time; however, the majority of reading will be done in class. Your teen may choose to complete the optional vocabulary and comprehension exercises outside of class, but it will not be required.
Your student will be provided a free .pdf of each book to download and/or print. You may also purchase your own copies of each novel.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
This class will have informal assessments only. I will assess each student's understanding of the material based on class participation. We will also occasionally play comprehension and vocabulary games as a class, but these will not be graded.
3 hours 20 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
The books we will be reading contain some mature themes and elements including violence, gun use, peril, and alcohol and tobacco use by adults, death, good vs. evil, etc.
