In this 18-week English/Language Arts/ELA course, students will study Jane Austen, read her books(Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, & Emma), watch films, & analyze why her stories continue to enchant readers & be made into movies.

Writing young adult fantasy and space opera under the pen name Angelia Almos. 
Students will have weekly reading assignments, watch the movie adaptions, complete short activities/worksheets, write three essays, complete three creative projects or presentations, and take three end of unit tests.
Students will need to have a copy of the following novels:
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austen
Emma by Jane Austen 

Students will need to rent/stream the following mini-series and movies:
Pride and Prejudice BBC (1995) or Sense and Sensibility BBC (2008) or Emma BBC (2009) 
Pride and Prejudice (2005)
Bride and Prejudice (2004)
Sense and Sensibility (1995)
From Prada to Nada (2011)
Emma (2020)
Clueless (1995)
Your Final Grade will be determined from your attendance, homework grades, essay grades, project grades, and test grades. 

Projects and essays grading rubrics will be provided with the assignment. 

Assignments, papers, projects, and tests will have due dates and late assignments will receive a deduction. Accommodations and extensions can be given when asked for before the due date. 
1 hour 50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
The modern adaptation movies that the learners will watch as homework have a PG-13 rating. 
Jane Austen's novels Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, and Emma, and films adapted from those three novels. We will be using the Prestwick House Literature Teaching Units as the base curriculum.
