US Grade 9
This high school-level class will cover short stories, poetry, and literature (both classic and modern). There will also be essay writing. It is a MUST that students already know how to write the following essays: book report, opinion piece, compare/contrast, and persuasive. We will briefly recap how to write each of these, but we will not go in-depth. This course will have practices and activities (such as quizzes, matching, drag-and-drop, etc.) to check the student's understanding. These will be done through NearPod and Blooket (neither requires a personal account). Literary Devices "Lord of the Flies" Unit "Night" Unit "Romeo & Juliet" Unit "Fahrenheit 451" Unit "Animal Farm" Unit Short Story Unit ("Two Kinds," "The Outcasts of Poker Flat," "The Short Happy Life of Francis Macomber," "Babylon Revisited," & "The Yellow Wallpaper")
