Description
Class Experience
Learners will acquire the knowledge required to meet the standards in a High School Chemistry Course. Learners will gain an understanding of the key concepts that are scheduled above.
Students will receive assignments/worksheets weekly that will reinforce what was learned in class. The worksheets will be completed on Nearpod using a link that I will provide. The students will NOT be required to login to Nearpod. The assignments/worksheets will provide them with instant feedback on their performance. I will receive a report of their performance once it is completed on the website. If there are parts of the assignments in which students are having trouble it will be reviewed during the next class. We will be completing some optional labs in class, but some weeks the students will have optional labs that they can complete at home. All of these assignments will be used to reinforce what the students learned in class.
Scientific Calculator Notebook for note taking Pencil & Pen Lab supplies will be provided in the classroom. (Mostly household items) Week 1: Separate a Mixture and Synthesis lab Skim Milk White Vinegar Small Pot and Stove Spoon Funnel (cheap plastic one will work) Paper towel Cup or Jar (that will hold your funnel) Bowl (for mixing glue) Baking Soda Water Dropper, pipette, or something similar Week 2: Polishing Pennies 4 old dark pennies 1 shiny penny 4 plastic or paper cups or bowls White Vinegar Ketchup Milk Week 5: Purification of Water (Samples will be prepared in class; observations will be made after class) Jar with lid Activated Charcoal Water Food Coloring Week 8: Formation of a precipitate Epsom Salt Baking Soda water Funnel Coffee filter, filter paper, or paper towel 2 Plastic cups 2 Jars (one to mix solutions; one to hold filtrate)

As the students complete assignments online they are instantly provided with their score on each assignment each week. Parents will receive a full report at the end of the course and at anytime requested of their learners progress.
