High School and AP-Level Biology Tutoring
In these sessions, your students can bring their biology questions, homework assignments, and review topics to go through in as much detail as necessary to help better your student's understanding of the biological concept.

Class Experience
US Grade 9 - 12
Beginner - Advanced Level
In these tutoring sessions, we can cover any biology topic that your student needs assistance in. Common high school and AP-level topics include cell biology, evolution and natural selection, genetics, and ecology. General session layout will begin with a review of the specific concept or topic that your student is interested learning more about. The rest of the session will be open for your student to ask questions, including needing assistance with homework, study guides, or just general interest, so I can really engage with your student and build their understanding of biology! Typically, I will ask your student what their favorite plant, animal or insect is so that I can use them as examples to help explain different topics. For example, if your student needed help understanding symbiotic relationships and also happened to like sharks (my favorite!), I could talk about how shark suckers have a commensalistic type of symbiotic relationship with sharks. This is because shark suckers will swim with or attach themselves to sharks and feed off of the sharks' food scraps. The shark sucker benefits from this interaction, while the shark is neither helped nor harmed.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding of broad scale biological concepts, such as evolution, natural selection, and ecology.
Students will improve their understanding of specific biological topics, such as plant & animal biology, cell biology, and genetics.

Supply List
Your student will need to bring their questions and homework assignments to our sessions for us to go through in detail. Any textbooks or materials used in their classes can be brought as well but are not required!

Sources
We will often refer to your students' own resources used in their respective courses. However, I can provide resources (ex: youtube videos, worksheets, diagrams, etc.) if necessary. Additionally, I request that students or parents let me know what topics need to be covered ahead of time so I can make sure I'm fully prepared for our sessions!
Teacher expertise and credentials
My expertise is in fisheries research, but I use general biological topics incredibly often. I am confident that I can teach your students about any concept that they need assistance with, regardless of if it's marine focused or not. I have training in plant/animal/invertebrate identification and biology, as well as have created outreach and educational materials on all of these topics. I have extensive education in biological topics, at the high school, collegiate, and professional level. I excelled in my college biology, ecology, and genetics courses, and I have research experience in marine biology focusing more fish/shark anatomy, physiology, reproduction, age, growth, diet, and migration. I have my Florida Master Naturalist certification, where I learned about plant, animal, and insect biology and ecology. I have worked with kids and adults of all ages at booth and lecture-style events where I spoke about fish and shark biology, as well as oceanographic topics and general biological concepts.
