This fifteen-week Algebra course will fulfill the first semester of a high school Algebra I. We meet twice a week for 55 minutes. When we meet together, I review previous material, answer student questions, and teach new material. Students are encouraged to actively participate via various methods, even anonymously if they are shy. Students are expected to complete practice assignments between classes. The only way to learn Algebra is to DO Algebra! Note that this class will meet 30 times. I have extra make-up classes included in the schedule. These extra classes are included in case I am ill and can not teach on a particular day. Students who are unable to attend live meetings are welcome to enroll in the class and use the class recordings of the live classes. However, students must attend at least part of a class live in order to have access to recordings. Students will have access to all class recording that occur after they attend a class live. Guided notes for each lesson are provided, as are homework assignments, study guides, and tests. Students will receive feedback on homework assignments turned in on time, and grading for study guides and tests. This class can be adapted for learners who struggle with math and for those who need an extra challenge. Please communicate the needs of your learner to me. Student progress is assessed through practice assignments (homework), participation in class, and tests. Families may opt their child out of any of these assessments. I am willing to adjust the class to accommodate learners unique needs. The second semester of this class will be offered after this first semester class ends.
