Spelling "test" where students will spell their weekly words Students will be asked to read the words from this week as well as spell them. These will be given weekly. However, they are to track student progress. If students miss a few words they can retake after reviewing a week of instruction.Grading

Beginner Level
This self paced course is designed to give learners practice with high frequency words. High frequency words are the words that occur most often in text. This will give learners the foundations to begin reading! This list used is the first 25 Fry high frequency words. These words will be taught using routines from LETRS which is backed by the science of reading. Each word will be introduced individually to students via a video. In each video I will: say the word, spell the word aloud, have students spell the word aloud with me, have students "trace" the word, ask students to write the word, and have students check. After the initial video students will also follow another sight word routine to help promote memory. In this routine we will: say the word, tap out the sounds of the word, identify missing letters, spell the word with hands on letters, "mix and fix" the letters, as well as write the word. Students will also have the opprotunity to use the words in sentences orally as well as in writing. Students will be introduced to 5 words a week to insure focused understanding and practice. If your learner needs more time or catches on quickly they can follow the self paced format of the class as needed. I will be available for extra support and practice as needed. All students will be given a sheet with letters in color (red for vowels, blue for consonants) for them to use during class. Students are also welcome to use any magnetic letters or tiles at home!
