This self paced course is designed to give learners practice with high frequency words. High frequency words are the words that occur most often in text. This will give learners the foundations to begin reading! This list used is the first 25 Fry high frequency words. Students will do the practice pages with each sight word. I am an early childhood certified educator. I have been teaching in the public school system for 8 years. I have also been part of tutoring programs for about 5 years. I have been trained in the science of reading and have completed LETRS training. I also have been trained under Read to Succeed.
Homework Offered
Students will be given the following weekly: Homework practice: Sight word book that utilizes sight words of the week, rainbow write, missing letter, find the word, trace the word These are given in a total of 2 sheet practice per sight word. The book is several pages.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Spelling "test" where students will spell their weekly words Students will be asked to read the words from this week as well as spell them. These will be given weekly. However, they are to track student progress. If students miss a few words they can retake after reviewing a week of instruction.Grades Offered
Grading will be available by request. Grades will reflect the learner understanding of the words for each week.
Students should have the following prerequisites: -concepts of print -knowledge of most letter sounds -knowledge of letter names
Learners will need the following -letters (the can use magnetic letters from home or I will provide a print out) - paper and pencil and/or dry erase marker and whiteboard
