Class Experience

As the days grow shorter and cooler, animals are preparing for winter. In this class, we will all wear our most snuggly pajamas, bring along our favorite stuffed animal, and a blanket. We will learn about different animals that hibernate and what hibernation means. We will also practice tracing the word hibernate, describe our stuffed animals and our pajamas, and play a game. Learners will be able to show and share their favorite stuffed animal and talk about why it's their favorite as well.

Learning Goals

Students will improve their understanding of what it means to hibernate and learn about different types of animals that hibernate.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Alicia Carey, and I have been a teacher at a brick and mortar school for 18 years now! I also have my Master's in Education, and I love to continue to learn new strategies to help not only my students learn at school but also my children. Teaching Special Education students has been a joy throughout my years as a teacher, and it has given me the opportunity to adapt my teaching to each individual student as well as provide engaging lessons and strategies to ensure that all of my students are successful. Every child can be successful as long as they have the right teacher, tools, and strategies to help them get to where they need to be. I have taught at the middle school level for 18 years, and I have Co-taught Language Arts classes, Math 7, Math 8, Geography, and Science classes. I know the curriculum in these subject areas very well, and I absolutely love teaching math, writing and reading.

Two years ago, I started teaching for an online company and teach elementary aged students that live in China. Teaching online was a learning curve, and I have now made connections all over the world due to my adventure of teaching online for my Chinese students. I love getting to know each and every student and hope to do the same at Outschool.

My family consists of myself, my husband, three children, a guinea pig, and my mischievous dog. My family and I love to travel and see the world and my kids think it's so cool to have a mom that is also a teacher. :)

Please feel free to reach out to me if you need individual tutoring as that is also something that I have done for years and enjoy very much. I'm looking forward to teaching different subjects and learners of all ages and ability levels. I also enjoy cooking and teaching children facts about guinea pigs!
