Class Experience
In this four weeks flex class, learners will learn the basics of what a paleontologist does for a living, how they hunt for fossils and carefully unearth them. Your learner will also gain knowledge on the Anykylosaurus, Spinosaurus, T-rex and Triceratops. No prior knowledge is needed. Learners will learn key terms and will be provided with a weekly coloring sheet, worksheet and short quiz at the end of class each week. There are no live meetings, but I am available to answer questions throughout the course. Learners will be encouraged to show pictures and videos to show off the completed projects. Learners will interact by adding positive comments on each other's accomplishments by posting in the classroom. Learners will have a quiz to ensure they are learning the necessary information. Learners will also enjoy a game each week to interact with each other as they enjoy a photo challenge. They will answer questions by uploading a photo to answer each challenge question. I will also be uploading challenge questions that they will answer in the classroom. After each learner uploads their answers/pictures, I will submit a response. WEEK ONE We will learn fun facts about the occupation of paleontology and facts about the Ankylosaurus We will learn about the challenges of unearthing, piecing together, and re-creating what a dinosaur would look like. In week one, your child will receive a challenge to draw what a dinosaur may look like based on an image of a few bones. Leaners will develop a deeper love for learning as they learn about how they can be young paleontologists. Each week they will receive a link for a video slideshow presentation filled with fascinating facts and images. Each week I will upload the necessary worksheets, directions for class and coloring pages. This is a flex class with NO live meetings so that your child watch complete at their own pace, and they can even enjoy the videos over and over again to re-enforce their knowledge. Supplies week one...printout of coloring sheet, quiz and coloring page that will be provided by the teacher. Crayons or markers or paint or colored pencils.. Week Two All About the Spinosaurus and the term carnivore, predator, prey, among other terms. Supplies: print out of coloring page. Week Three All About the T-rex. More vocabulary and facts. Supplies: print out of coloring page. week Four All About the Triceratops and the term herbivore. Supplies: print out of coloring page. Upon successful completion your child will receive a certificate of completion. Great throughout the year, or for summer camps & winter camps
